Gucci fashion house was founded by Italian businessman and fashion designer Guccio Gucci. Born in Florence in 1881 to an Italian merchant, Gucci’s introduction to the finer things in life came when he worked as a lift boy in the Savoy Hotel in his twenties. He went on to found Gucci in 1920 as a family-run saddlery in his home city of Florence.
